There was little doubt about the winning team this year. The Leesburg Mafia was a "dream team. The first three runners all finished under eight hours. There was a slight wait for the other two runners to finish to make it official.

The oldest team was formed by Gary Knipling. He was going to be on the team until he belatedly read the rules to determine that he needed a woman on his team. (Gary forms the team and there is no woman??) So he withdrew and became the coach.

The fastest female team was Over 40 and Still Hot! This team was fourth fastest overall and the slowest runner was under 10:30, so they are definitely hot—in more ways than one!

The coveted slowest team award went down to the wire. All of the members of Yinzer Attack (Primary Assault) had finished, but if the final runner from MCRRC Bottle Washers were to be an official finisher, that team would have won. We watched the clock patiently. It went past and the final MCRRC Bottle Washers runner did not finish. So Yinzer Attack (Second Wave) proudly took home the spoils.

The "finish together" category was won by no one. This year, race management defined "together" as meaning together. No one came close to that.

Because we had extra trophies, we gave a second fastest team award. In our continuing goal to avoid perfection, we did the math wrong and gave the award to team WUS. WUS ran well, but the second fastest team was Team A. Sorry about that.
