The Chocolate Bunny 50K
The Massanutten Mountains
211 East to Woodstock Tower
Saturday, March 22, 2008
Entry is Closed: Do not just show up to this event. You must be entered to participate.
Welcome to the 6th Annual Chocolate Bunny 50k. Thanks for signing up for our nighttime training run. Both FDR 274 Crisman Hollow Rd. and FDR 66 Strasburg Reservoir Rd. remain CLOSED, so we are unable to run the original course. However, we don’t need no stinkin’ roads to run a good Bunny. We’ll just improvise.
- We will meet at the FINISH - Woodstock Tower - at 6:30PM on Saturday evening to drop vehicles, collect individual drop bags, and carpool to the START at 211 East. No additional community aid is required. Due to your previous generosity, and that of our beloved VHTRC, we are overflowin’ with goodies. Please drive your BIG and ROOMY vehicles to help transport folks to the Start. We will be forever indebted to you and will give you much chocolate.
- There will be NO AID AT GAP II. You will run from 211 East to Moreland, approx. 9.6 miles, before you see aid and your drop bag.
- We should arrive at the START, 211 East, by 7:30PM. Here we will check in, take pictures, and admire each other on our fine choices of running apparel.
- 7:45 PM - Run!
- All Aid Stations (except NO AID AT GAP II) will have community aid and your one very small, very sturdy, very light weight and CLEARLY MARKED drop bag.
- Please come through and check in at every Aid Station. We want to see you, greet you, and check you through.
- The VHTRC/MMT 100 web site and PATC Map G have everything you need for this run. Please prepare accordingly. There will be no additional markings on the trails. The Forest Service trail markings, your experience, your running mates, your navigational abilities, and if you're like me at times; just plain dumb luck, is all you have to negotiate this course. Carry your map and/or your turn sheets. If you think you're off course, backtrack don't bushwhack to your last marking. Please pay attention. Helicopter gas is really expensive.
- It might be cold, it might hot, it might be wet, it might be not. It will be dark.
- Did I mention that there is NO AID AT GAP II...?
- Please, please! ...don't get lost, don't get hurt, and don't fall asleep off of the trail. Your volunteers are trying to party so please be considerate. Thanks!
See ya Saturday!
