Rules and Warnings

Littering

Dropping any litter anywhere on the course is strictly prohibited. Carry all trash to the next aid station and dispose of it in an appropriate receptacle.

Be sure to tell a race official that you are dropping out and give that official your bib number. It is vitally important that we know you have dropped out. Unless you finish the race, your bib number must be with a race official. If it is not, you may be precluded from running future MMTs. If you drop, you should give your bib number to the aid station captain, the “Grim Reaper” (course marshal who closes each aid station), or someone at radio headquarters at the start/finish.

Dogs

Dogs are not permited on the grounds of the Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp. At the aid stations, please note the following: Dogs, even friendly ones and even those on a leash, can be disruptive for the volunteers and runners. Please do not bring a dog into any aid station. If you have a dog, please keep it away from the runners, the aid station itself, and the volunteers in the aid station. If your dog wants to meet its running master along the course, please arrange for it to do so before or after the runner enters the aid station itself. Dogs should always be on a leash. We request that you not bring your dog to this event.

Personal Listening Devices

The VHTRC policy onĀ  personal listening devices applies to this event. Entrants are expected to comply with that policy. In short, the policy strongly discourages items put in the runners’ ears that prevent them from being aware of their surroundings especially when other runners are present on single track trails and and on roads. There is not, however, an outright ban on the devices. Note: Personal listening devices may not be used at all by those participating in the Solo Division.

Relieving yourself

Do so off the trail and not “in public.” Bury solid human waste properly.

Medical Issues

Runners at the MMT are responsible for their own health and well-being. We do not have “medical checks” or medical professionals at the event. You need to take care of yourself. Please read our medical policy before you enter.

Alcohol

The public consumption of alcoholic beverages at Caroline Furnace Camp is not permitted.

Parking at Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp

Please park properly at the start/finish. We need your cooperation to fit everyone in.

Crew Issues

Crews are asked to comply with all directions of Forest Service and aid station officials. It is critical to park legally. Crews should be familiar with the crew instructions and abide by their admonitions. Crews that do not abide by the rules could be excluded from the course and, in aggravated circumstances could cause the disqualification of the runner they are supporting.

Pacers

See the pacer’s page for rules on pacing.
