Sproston and Petrie Represent at Miwok

For the second year in a row, Amy Sproston was fourth overall female at the Miwok 100K, held in Marin Headlands, CA. Her time was 10:02:41, the exact same time as last year. Ragan Petrie was sixth overall female in 10:24. Derrick Carr appears to have finished as first VHTRC male, edging out Scott Mills by five minutes in 10:29. Not that many rocks, but when they say single track, they mean mostly overgrown singletrack. They could use our Massanutten Trail maintenance crew! In other places the footings were difficult due to the camber of the trail. I took 3 tumbles and have the scraped knees to prove it - no major damage.

The course has a lot climbing and descending, some of it on fire roads and approximately 7 miles of pavement, mostly in the beginning and in the last mile. But there are lots of nice trails in between, especially through the Muir Woods and high over the Pacific Ocean.

You do Miwok for the scenery: The Golden Gate, the views of the Pacific, Muir Woods, the Dipsea Trail, etc. I'm not sure I will do it again, but it was definitely worth doing once.
