Blue Mountain Night Run
Meet at: Dave's House in Linden
Come join me for a night training run on Blue Mountain in Linden, VA. My plan is to take part in the trail work party on Saturday May 3rd and then grab dinner as a group in Front Royal and then head out 20 minutes to Linden for the training run. We will start at approximately 8pm utilizing the AT and several other trails in and around GR Thompson WMA and Sky Meadows State Park. The trail work party is not a prerequisite for this training run. Be sure to arrive by 7:45pm. The meeting place will be my house at 665 Fire Trail Rd. Linden, VA 22642. We will primarily run as a group making sure to re-group every few miles. The pace will be casual with the emphasis getting more comfortable running on the trails at night using the lighting systems you plan to race with.
For those who need too can spend the night downstairs at my house. Bring your sleeping bag and grab a cozy floor spot. A quick indoor shower will be available for those staying the night (bring your towel). For people spending the night we can grab breakfast at the Applehouse in Linden as early as 7am. A morning trail run is also an option for those interested. Last, but not least Fox Meadow Vineyards opens at 11am for you wine lovers. The vineyard is on the left half way down the mountain on Freezeland Rd as you head home.
Start: 8:00pm (run duration 4 - 5.5 hours) (BRING YOUR LIGHT)
Trail: 17.5 night run on moderately technical terrain with decent climbs and decents. (PATC Map 8) There will be options to cut the run short or extend. I will have limited aid that will be passed at 3 miles and then again at 14.5 miles. (1 cooler with mainly water)
