Karsten Brown Wins Capon Valley 50km
Last we looked, Karsten was still entered in MMT. So he tapered for it by setting a new course record at the Capon Valley 50km in West Virginia on May 8. There were several other VHTRC finishers. Results

To be fair, it was a tough battle with Joe Clapper for a few yards. I almost thought he had me.

Did these happen to be the first few yards of the race? I recall at the start of Grindstone last year Karl Meltzer was looking around and sizing up the competition to see how the start would go. "Joe Clapper's not here, is he?"
