For the second year in a row, Amy Sproston was fourth overall female at the Miwok 100K, held in Marin Headlands, CA. Her time was 10:02:41, the exact same time as last year. Ragan Petrie was sixth overall female in 10:24. Derrick Carr appears to have finished as first VHTRC male, edging out Scott Mills by five minutes in 10:29. In perfect running weather and on dry trails, Dan Rose broke Keith Knipling's 2009 Reverse Ring record by one minute in 14:57. Zsuzsanna Carlson was the first woman to finish in 24:30. Of 17 starters, ten finished, five of them being first-time Reverse Ring finishers (a.k.a. new Masters of The Ring).

Gary Lukacs led just about form the start of the VHTRC college bowl contest. Those below him went up and down, but at the end, Quatro Hubbard was second and Darin Dunham third. The regular season winner, Jack Evans, got off to a slow start but mounted late surge that didn't quite get him into the top three. One contestant thought the point of the contest was to pick the losers. Bowl contest final results
Amy ran the fifth fastest time by a woman (6:57:16) in the 48 year history of the JFK 50 mile on her way to becoming the women's winner by 21 seconds. Pam Smith, the second place female, was in the 46 mile aid station with Amy, and the two had to duke it out for four miles! Mike Campbell won the 60 year age group in 8:11:30. (For the first 10 years of JFK no 60 year old finished. This year, 55 did.) There were several other VHTRC members who participated in beautiful weather. JFK Web site
Several VHTRC members did well at the Mountain Masochists 50 Miler on November 6. This traditional run founded by David Horton is of the old school. The winner finished in 7:23 and the time limit is 12 hours. Results
After detailed analysis by the race committee, the results of the 2010 Potomac Heritage 50k are now available. Fantastic weather led to another great Potomac Heritage 50 km on November 7. This year, there was "Broderick theme" to honor and remember our friend. A big thanks to the volunteers and, of course, Kerry Owens, our hostess for this great event.
