The Run
Background Information
Local ultra runner* James (Jim) Moore will be running 370 miles the week of 19 July 1999. Jim who is a full time federal employee with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) is running the "out and back " length of the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Canal towpath.
As a part of this effort, I'm seeking pledges of "pennies per mile" to help feed the hungry. All expenses and labor to run this event are being donated. 100% of gross revenues will go to So Others Might Eat (SOME). All donations are tax deductible.
My run will start Monday July 19 at 6am at Thompson's Boat center located, at the western end of Virginia Ave in Georgetown (DC), continue up the towpath to Cumberland, MD (mile 185) and return to Georgetown on Sat 24 July between 6 and 7pm. I will be running during daylight hours only (12 to 14 hours per day) making over night stops in Harpers Ferry, WVA, Hancock and Cumberland, MD. My return route will be the same. You are most welcome to join me anywhere along the route and run a few miles with me. I will arrange to have your pledge picked up before, during of after the run.

*Ultra runs are distances beyond the standard Marathon distance of 26.2 miles. Most ultra runs begin at a distance of 31.1 miles (50km).
