[This page is for non-members who want to join the Virginia Happy Trails Running Club. If you are listed on the Member List regardless of the expiration of your membership, you are a member and should not use this form. Current members should go to the Membership Admin Page to renew or edit their memberships.]
Before You Join: Be sure to read about the club. Read the "About the VHTRC" page. We don't offer a lot for membership. Non-members are welcome to participate in most VHTRC activities. Your membership, however, helps support our activities and is much appreciated.
Paying Dues: During the membership application process, you will be asked to pay your dues by credit card or PayPal. There is no way to pay dues by check or cash. This process is paperless. There is no extra fee for using your credit card. All of your credit card data will be taken over a secure connection to PayPal. You are not required to join PayPal or use a PayPal account to join.
Running Spouse Members: If you and your significant other live at the same address, both run, and want separate listings in the VHTRC club roster, each should join separately. The second to join should check the appropriate box on the application form. The first to join will pay $15 ($30 for two years) and the second will pay $5 ($10 for two years). Spouse memberships must expire in the same year as the first membership. If your significant other does not run, or does not want a separate membership record, you can just list him or her as your significant other on your membership at no additional charge. In that case, your significant other will not be a member of the club for purposes of awards, teams, and access to "members only" information on this Web site. ...More Information on Spouse Memberships
Privacy: Be sure to read the Privacy Policy. Basically, all the information you give us will be available to other club members. Less information will be available to the public.
Step One: Read the following waiver. Click whether you agree to be bound by the waiver or not. The terms of the waiver will be on the final exam. Trail running is not without risk. It is almost certain that you will fall and produce blood on your body at some point. It is possible that much worse can happen to you. Don't join this club or participate in our events if you don't want to take these risks. Don't expect us to reimburse you for harm caused to you or others by these risks.
"I know that running and volunteering to work in club races are potentially hazardous activities. I should not participate in club activities unless I am medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to safely complete a run. I assume all risks associated with running and volunteering to work in club races including, but not limited to, falls, contact with other participants, the effects of weather, including high heat and/or humidity, the conditions of the road and traffic on the course, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. If I have read this far, I will be very proud of myself. I also realize that the Virginia Happy Trails Running Club events are particularly arduous and often held in remote locations far from medical help and with rough footing and many dangers. (Please raise your hand if you are still reading.) Having read this waiver and knowing these facts, and in consideration of your acceptance of my application for membership, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the Road Runners Club of America, the Virginia Happy Trails Running Club, all of its members, and all sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in these club activities even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. In short, I know that this is tough stuff filled with danger. If I get hurt, it's my own fault for doing such stuff in the first place."
