VHTRC Board Candidate Statement of Keith Knipling

Keith at UTMB

Representing the VHTRC at the 2014 UTMB.

I have been a trail runner and a member of the VHTRC since 1999 and, over the years, have been involved in most club events as a participant or volunteer. I have served on the Board the past three terms, from 2013–2019.

Things I believe:

  • Putting on quality trail races is the VHTRC’s raison d’être.
  • Traditions matter. I was the lone opponent on both the MMT course change and the membership dues increase.
  • The VHTRC once had the best running club Web site in country. We will again.
  • We’re just a “happy” running club. Taken too seriously, the Board can do to the club more harm than good. We used to be governed by a Bored.

You don’t need to be on the Board to continue to be an invaluable asset to this club. Whatever the outcome of the vote, I’m not going anywhere and I’ll continue to serve as an active member of the VHTRC.
