VHTRC Board Candidate Statement of Ed Demoney
It has been my pleasure to be associated with VHTRC since the beginning. I've been involved as both a member of the Board of Directors and as a Race Director. I believe those experiences will help me guide club activities in accordance with the operational process developed over the past 18 years. In addition I have the unique experience of having been the Interim Executive Director of RRCA for nearly a year so have the perspective of how we relate to the running community at large although VHTRC is only narrowly involved with RRCA because of its ultrarunning nature.
At 18 years one might say VHTRC has reached maturity. That's good, but even better is the fact that VHTRC has expanded gradually and developed quality events. I want to help maintain the ultrarunning community's belief that VHTRC is a quality organization and its events not only highly desirable but managed by outstanding race directors.
There will be changes in the two years ahead, changes for the better. In particular VHTRC is expanding to better acquaint members with the southern end of Massanutten Mountain. There are great trails down there, well worth running. I'm looking forward to managing expansion along with continuation of ultrarunners' respect for VHTRC. We can take great pride in our reputation, and the Board should make sure nothing tarnishes that reputation.
