Brad Hinton (11:21), Vince Bowman (11:22) and Karsten Brown (11:54) led the 28 runners who started the SMUT 50 on October 17 at 7:00 am under cloudy skies and cool temperatures. Michele Harmon was the first woman to finish in 14:30. 17 runners ultimately finished this inaugural event that, according to Brad Hinton, is "a 50 miler than runs like a 100K." The course included most of the Catherine's Fat Ass course (and the purple trail---downhill!) and continued on trails winding along the southern section of Massanutten Mountain, with the furthermost point coming at mile 27, at Massanutten Resort. Stayed tuned for results and more photos.

Great fun....thanks a bunch!
