VHTRC Volunteers Party

Thanks to Kerry Owens for hosting the annual VHTRC party to celebrate summer and honor our volunteers.  There was great food, "refreshments," and a wonderful setting. The weather was not bad either. A good time was had by all!

Seiberg finishes the Grand Teton 100 miler

Jaret Seiberg finished the Grand Teton 100 miler on September 6. The event is held in Idaho on the western side of the Tetons. Jaret reports:

"This is a small race, but very professionally run and in a beautiful setting. ...the Grand Tetons are in view for much of the race.  Most of the course is run between 8,000 feet and 10,000 feet, though it does drop down to 6,700."

The Ring

The Ring started at 7 am this morning. Only two entrants didn't show - Mike Mason and Ernesto Casarez. There are 30 runners out there. VHTRC.org will set up its headquarters at Powells Fort.  Unfortunately, there will be no coverage there. Anyone with news can post it here as a comment to this story.  Ring Web page

Potomac Overlook Trail Runs - November 14

At Potomac OverlookEd Demoney is bringing back the popular Potomac Overlook Trails Runs on November 14. These runs are composed of one or two loops of a four kilometer course in Potomac Overlook Regional Park in Arlington.  This is the event for those who want a shorter trail run and who do not want a long drive.  The very reasonable entry fee supports two local parks. Cheat Mountain Moonshine Madness 50

Several VHTRC members finished the Cheat Mountain Moonshine Madness 50 in Beverly, West Virginia on August 27-28. This event starts at 9 PM.

Angeles Crest 100 Cancelled Due to Fire

The Angeles Crest 100 miler that is held in Southern California each September, has been cancelled for 2009 due to the fires in the mountains.
